The Self Esspression Martini

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 thin Orange wedge
  • A dusting of unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • Ice
  • 30mls of Coffee Liqueur
  • 30mls of Vodka
  • 30mls of room temp. Espresso

The Secret Recipe:

  1. Run the orange wedge around the rim of a glass, anti-clockwise.
  2. Lightly coat the glass with Cocoa Powder. If you never, ever tell anyone, you may substitute with Milo.
  3. Take a freshly sterilised cocktail shaker and fill with ice before adding all other ingredients.
  4. Consult your physician for the cocktail shaking technique that’s right for you and your tennis-elbow.
  5. Strain into a martini glass, originally gifted by a cool relative.
  6. Remember that alcohol is a depressant whereas coffee is a stimulant, so the effects will cancel each other out and leave you fully able to pilot go-carts and certain aircraft.

The New York Sweet

You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups of Limoncello (a lemon-flavored liqueur)
  • 1.5 cups of Gin
  • 1 cup of fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 sour Lemon
  • Ice
  • 2 cups of chilled Soda Water
  • 8 locally-foraged sprigs of Mint

The Secret Recipe:

  1. Add the Limoncello, Gin and Lemon Juice to an antique jug, preferably a family heirloom.
  2. Cover and refrigerate by submerging in the icy waters of a Tasman river, or any convenient fresh spring water. Alternately, simply place in the fridge until cold, but not long enough to take on the smell of other items.
  3. Slice the Lemon into at least 24 wafer thin slices (ask an adult to help you if you are underage-drinking). Place 3 slices into each of 8 glasses, pressing them up against the sides.
  4. Add Ice cubes (or crushed ice for a 7/11 twist) to each glass.
  5. Stir the lemon mixture and pour into the glasses.
  6. Add 1-quarter cup of Soda Water to each glass.
  7. Garnish each glass with a Mint sprig.
  8. Invoke bouts of unparalleled envy in your friends by posting a picture to social media!
